South Florida’s next generation of jazz talent takes the stage on October 2.
The China Valles Next Gen Jazz Competition is open to high school juniors and seniors throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. Young musicians will have the chance to perform live at the historic Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater and compete for a $2,000 China Valles Memorial Scholarship.
The winner will also receive the opportunity to open for Sunshine Jazz Organization’s 40th Anniversary Concert on November 6, 2026.
